Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) are mental health professionals who are trained in psychotherapy and family systems and who are licensed to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within the family system (the couple, the parent-infant dyad, the parents, the child, and the whole family). An MFT’s primary area of expertise is relationships and how the family system sustains the growth and development of its members through healthy communication and intimacy.
