Natural Parenting

Natural Parenting is a term that has been coined to refer to a style of parenting in which modern or technological conveniences and materials are eschewed in favor of more holistic or "basic" ones.

Parents who prefer this path might choose any of the following: childbirth outside of a hospital and without the use of pain medication; cloth instead of disposable diapers; natural or homeopathic medicines in lieu of modern pharmaceuticals; abstinence from vaccinations or spacing them out over time; mostly or all organic and whole foods; natural or organic cloth fibers; wood instead of plastic or battery-operated toys; limited or no use of television and computers; nontoxic cleaning solvents and supplies; and so forth. Natural parenting can also mean engaging in certain practices in line with those “attachment parenting” actions advocated by Dr. Sears, including co-sleeping, extended breast-feeding, and baby-wearing.
