Mindful Parenting Groups

Facilitated by postpartum family therapists/child development specialists

Thursdays, 12 - 1:30 pm

This group provides a supportive environment for moms to connect with their baby and other moms in a safe, reflective space. You wil receive support for breastfeeding or bottle feeding, and self care strategies to manage the "baby blues", postpartum depression, feelings of anxiety and other concerns typical of new parents struggling with PPD. In these groups you will find the support you want from other new parents and the topics you are interested in, including:

  • Your transition to parenthood - stressors, challenges, and opportunities
  • The "baby blues", postpartum depression, feelings of anxiety
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Sleep support
  • Self care
  • Partner support

Mindful Parenting Infant/Toddler Parenting Groups

Innovative parent-infant and parent-toddler groups

For children newborn to three years of age (grouped by age)

Mondays, 4 - 5:30 pm

Tuesdays, New Group Forming! Time TBD

Fridays, 10 - 11:30 am

Fridays, 2 - 3:30 pm

These groups provide a unique, developmentally-based approach to promoting sensitivity, flexibility, and mindfulness in communication between parent and child, focused on enhancing the attachment relationship. Topics may include:

  • Setting limits with love and empathy
  • Managing "big feelings"
  • Promoting cognitive, emotional, and sensory motor development
  • Enhancing the attachment relationship through observational exercises
  • Songs, finger play, snack time to promote child-led initiative

Becoming Social: A Preschool-Readiness Group

Fridays, 3:30 - 5 pm 

In this preschool-readiness parent-child group, your child will develop age-appropriate social skills and learn to accept simple instructions from our facilitators, all during a fun playground group experience. While children are in the play yard, parents will observe and participate in the children's social interactions and process their experiences in a discussion group.

Loving Discipline: A Mindfulness-based Parenting Class Series

Facilitated by licensed and pre-licensed family therapists

Loving Discipline, a mindfulness-based parenting class series, teaches parents to set limits effectively by using empathy, love, and understanding in order to encourage cooperation and to strengthen the parent-child bond. Each class focuses on helping parents develop the capacity to become more sensitive and reflective, and to raise happy and resilient children.

Topics will include:

  • Loving discipline and behavior techniques
  • Positive behavior strategies
  • Reflective abilities to sensitively respond to anger and tantrums

       Girl Talk 

Girl Talk is a process group to help young girls manage mean girl talk at school. Participants learn to create boundaries within friendships, are taught how to cultivate a sense of self, and develop conflict resolution skills to help them conquer this difficult stage in their lives. 

This group is facilitated by Well Baby Center Clinic Director, Deborah Groening, PsyD.
